Change and transition - that was 2014.
School - Deciding to go to College after University was one of the best decisions I have ever made. Finishing my music degree was very satisfying and I am proud of everything I learned there and am thankful for all the people I met. College provided a different and very rewarding experience. I went to Fanshawe for the Fast-Track Social Service Worker program. (Fast-track can also translate to crazy, insane, exhausting and frantic). Between classes, placement, work and relationships I am surprised I made it to the end successfully! But through the craziness of that program I am so grateful for everything I learned. I have work in the social work field now as a family support worker and community worker and I couldn't be more excited!
Marriage- Getting engaged and married in the same year was pretty incredible. When announcing our engagement, friends and family were really excited. When they asked about a date and we announced that it was four months later, a lot of people were shocked. Fact - it is possible to plan a wedding in four months or less! Thank you to everyone who has helped us this year, we are so grateful for your friendship and continued support.
Work - I had a fantastic summer working for the YMCA Summer Work Student Exchange. I had eight incredible high school students from Quebec who were hosted by truly amazing families in the London area. The students worked full time for six weeks at different not-for-profit agencies including the YMCA, the Boys and Girls Club, Museum London, and the Salvation Army. I learned a little bit of French, and learned a lot about these fantastic individuals who were brave enough to spend their summer away from their families in order to learn English and gain experience. I miss you !
Wellington - I don't anticipate posting very much about my cat....but I would like to say that adopting a kitten from the London Humane Society has been really good for us. It is great to take care of an animal together and he is so funny to watch and play with. Neither of us grew up with cats or dogs, but we are glad Welly is in our family now!
Change is good, but transition can be tough. Here's to another year full of adventure!
Happy New Year!
